NOT SAFE TO RETURN
"I know it was hard to leave home, and it's even harder to wait and wonder whether you have a home to go back to," but North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper is telling residents who have been evacuated from their homes that it's still too dangerous to return. Rivers and creeks continue to rise today -- forcing an estimated 10,000 people to remain in shelters after the deadly storm, which tragically took the lives of at least 34 people in three states. Since Hurricane Florence made landfall last Friday, more than 4,000 people have been rescued from widespread flooding caused by more than 30 inches of rain. Meanwhile, utility crews are still working to restore power to more than 300,000 homes.
TELLING TOO MUCH?
That's what plenty of people are saying today about adult-film star/former-Trump-tryst Stormy Daniels -- and her soon-to-be-released memoir, "Full Disclosure." The British newspaper, The Guardian, claims to have somehow obtained an advanced copy of the book -- ahead of its scheduled October 2nd drop date. Today, the paper is teasing the world with colorful, and (in our opinion), downright gross details. We'll start with the less vile -- like Daniels' claim that Trump never wanted to be president. She goes on to say Trump was the "least impressive sex I ever had, but clearly, he didn't share that opinion." Daniels also allegedly drags poor Toad from the kid-favorite video game Mario Kart into it -- saying the mushroom-like character shares a strong resemblance to Trump's unmentionables. Cringe. Not surprisingly, Mario Kart is trending big time this afternoon.
WE'RE A BIT TIRED TODAY...
Because we stayed up to watch the big winners of the Emmys. Big wins for "Game of Thrones" and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." Also -- a well-deserved win for the Fonz (Henry Winkler -- exactamundo), Betty White hitting on Alec Baldwin and an impromptu romantic marriage proposal -- all made up last night's show. The complete details here.
SOUTHERN BELLE
Reese's Witherspoon's new book -- "Whiskey in a Teacup: What Growing Up in the South Taught Me About Life, Love and Baking Biscuits" -- hits stores today and based on what we've seen, we love it. Our favorite -- her tips on how to "hot-roller" your hair. Looks like it's also Jennifer Garner's favorite part too -- see here as she takes her friend's advice to heart and shows up on the school PICKUP LINE in full hot rollers! Our "Mom on the Street" -- Meg H. -- was lucky enough to have tickets to Reese's book event last night in NYC. Her take on the "girl talk" style interview -- Reese's stories were super-funny and relatable and the book and the event are just as charming as Reese is.
REMINDER - WHAT TO WATCH TONIGHT
