The Radium Girls by Kate Moore
Radium was one of those things that had been an additive in many household products because people thought radium had health benefits. In this story, Kate Moore does an incredible exploration of the women who were most affected by the use of radium in a radium-dial factory and how corporate greed became more important than the safety of its employees. This story documents these girls and their stories as well as the court battle that they endured after they were convinced that radium was to blame. It is a heartbreaking read that I had a difficult time with, but am so thankful I read.
